2021

In February of 2021 I began showing my animal paintings at The Iron Pony in Ramona, CA where I now live. I’m showing both full sized paintings and numerous mini paintings in this delightful, rustic antique store.

2021 was a year of transition and confusion for many of us. I focused on painting for my own pleasure and spending intense time with my family. In 2022 I’m looking forward to exploring new painting techniques, some travel and getting back to spending time with family and old friends that I haven’t been able to see for the past two years. Lots of changes and new beginnings.

2020

As is the case for everyone, 2020 has been a year of change as we all venture into an unknown future. I have made the difficult decision to relocate back to Southern California to be closer to my mother, who will be 100 this August. We are fortunate that she has been able to remain in her own home and has remained safe. I have had to leave my beloved teaching position at Alchemia and I miss my students terribly. I haven’t yet decided whether I will seek out another teaching position but there’s plenty of time to find out what comes next.

I continue to work at my art but it means making new contacts and exploring new ideas. I am currently working on an oil portrait of my mother for her birthday and it’s renewing my interest in portrait painting. Also, I now live in the country and am surrounded by wonderful animals and beautiful scenery - very different from my home near the Wine Country. So many possibilities for paintings - we’ll see where it takes me. Be safe and be well.

Special Exhibition

Art Works Downtown gallery and studios is celebrating their 20th anniversary.  My gallery, which opened one year after the founding of the center, was located in the front of the Art Center.  Artists who were members of the Art Center from its beginning were invited to submit a 12x12 painting to be displayed in a wall grid in the gallery.  The pieces could relate to the Center or not as the artist saw fit, but all were for sale to benefit the Art Center.  I chose to do an oil painting of my Gallery, as it looked at the time, with my gallery dog, Chelsea, in the front where she loved to hang out.  The paintings were shown at the Anniversary Celebration called 20/20 Vision.  September 24 - November 11.
